The Mission of CYF Groups for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the U.S. and Canada is to respond to the needs of youth for relationships, events, and opportunities where they can be themselves, discern their gifts, and be empowered to be effective leaders and servants as called by God to be the body of Christ in the world.
That is the official purpose statement for CYF. CYF is the name of our High School (grades 9-12) youth group. Our CYF attempts to discuss and live out what it means to be truly Christian. We do this through small group discussions, activities at camp, mission trips, service projects, pool parties, lock-ins, and other activities.
Each year the CYF takes a mission trip, alternating between local and national trips. This past year the CYF went to Dallas and visited Austin Street Night Shelter, Juliette Fowler Communities, Soupmobile, and North Texas Food Bank. This year (2014), the CYF went to Bloomfield, NM to work with the native Navajo people there.
Our CYF meets during Sunday school at 10:00 AM on Sunday mornings and then again at 5:30 PM for small group time on Wednesday night.
